Sign ups are closed! Thanks to everyone who signed up.

Please keep track of your baskets: both to find your gifts later, because gifts being posted to AO3 aren't mandatory. If you notice any issues with formatting, tags, or information that's missing, let me know!

All baskets are screened, so no one will see it until they are revealed on the 31st!

Remember: if you do post on AO3, you must link your work in a comment on the basket post. Gifting a work only on AO3 will most likely not be noticed for gift-counting purposes. If there are problems replying to the gift basket, please message the mod and I will figure it out!

I will not be making a spreadsheet for five baskets. However, closer to reveals time I will definitely post if someone still needs their basket filled!

This is a Vees-centric gifting fest in the style of fandomgiftbasket. People sign up with information about the mediums, characters/relationships, prompts, etc. that they want, as well as any DNWs. Others then fill their requests and the mod reveals everything on the stated date.

You must be 18 years or older to participate.

Rules

Sign-ups/Requests

Use the template provided. Keeping your signup inside the text area is important as it helps the mod when posting requests.
Only one sign up per person. Using a sock to sign up two or more times may result in having all sign ups removed.
You need one platonic (&) ship and/or a solo character request to be guaranteed a gift. You may sign up without any platonic ships, but in that case you are not guaranteed any gifts.
All ships, romantic, sexual, or platonic, must include a member of the Vees.
You can ask for any medium, including but not limited to: fic, art, icons, graphics (wallpapers, manips/edits, banners, etc.), podfic, fanmixes, fanvids, meta, recs (this includes recs for anything, from fic to fancomics to playlists). If you’re up for anything, you can also just say “any medium”.
If you indicate in your signup that you’re open to potential gifts being gifted to you on AO3, make sure to have “Allow anyone to gift me works.” ticked in your AO3 settings. You can find this option by navigating to “Preferences” (go to your Dashboard, it’s on the side bar) and scrolling down to the “Collections, Challenges and Gifts” section (it’s the second to last one). “Allow anyone to gift me works.” is the second option.

Comments/Fills

To fill a request, comment on the post (basket) of the recipient. Comments will be screened until reveals.
A fill must be a minimum of 100 words for fic, 100x100 graphics or icons (unless specified otherwise), a small doodle for art, or equivalents for other mediums of your choice. All fills must be complete at the time of posting, with requested characters/relationships, in a requested medium, and avoid all DNWs.
If there are specific prompts, you’re not required to use them.
Art/fanart here means art created directly by you (examples: drawn art, pixel art, photographs/scans of traditional painting you made); editing existing images such as screenshots, etc. falls under the “graphics” category (examples: manips, gifs, icons edited from screencaps).
AI generated works are not allowed.
All fills must be new content created by you, unless the request is for recommendations.
A gift should only have one recipient. If you’d like to fill multiple people’s requests, please create something new for each of them.
You do not need to be logged in to Dreamwidth to post a gift.
You are not required to make use of the AO3 collection.
If you do post on AO3, you must link your work in a comment on the basket post. Gifting a work only on AO3 will most likely not be noticed for gift-counting purposes.
Comments that are insulting towards the recipient, the gift giver or other participants, disparaging about a fandom/canon or otherwise in bad faith will get you permanently banned from the event. In short, don’t be an asshole.

Reveals

Bookmark or otherwise keep track of your post so you can see your gift(s) and say thanks. Acknowledging all your gifts is mandatory and anyone who doesn’t before the next round will not be allowed to sign up for the next year. Exceptions are fills that broke the rules (containing a DNW, for example) of which the mod is aware of.
If any gift you receive contains a DNW or you otherwise feel was written in bad faith/spitefully, please contact the mod immediately (either on the Support post or over email).
The AO3 collection will remain open after reveals for late fills.

FAQ

What’s a “DNW”?

Stands for “Do Not Want”, i.e. anything you do not want to receive. This can be anything, including triggers, squicks, relationships/characters/tropes/interpretations/AUs/etc. that for whatever reason you don’t want to show up in something made for you. An explanation for why you DNW something is not needed or expected.

Do not disparage the items on your DNW list, because someone may be happy to create for you without including it even if they love it, and being told something you like is awful doesn’t really make people want to create for you.

If I sign up, am I required to create something for somebody else?

No, you are not. Of course, it would be very nice if you did! But you’re not committing to anything by signing up, except to saying “thanks” to any gifts you receive.

What am I guaranteed if I sign up?

If you requested one platonic (&) relationship and/or a solo character request, you are guaranteed two gifts. If by the scheduled reveal date we still have people who have asked with that minimum and have no or one gift, reveals will be pushed back until they have two. If you did not request a platonic relationship or a solo character request, you are not guaranteed any gifts and reveals will not be pushed back for you.

Will there be a way to search requests?

All request posts will be tagged with the relevant characters and pairings (e.g. “c:Valentino” or “p:Velvette/Other”) and mediums (e.g. “m:fic”). There will also be a spreadsheet with each person’s requested fandoms and mediums, which will about halfway through be updated with the # of gifts per person, so everyone can see who’s still in need of a gift and work on giving it to them.

Can I tweak the sign up template?

You can! Please keep the sections that are already part of it, but you can add to it if that would be useful to you (e.g. a “character-specific DNWs” section to a specific request).

How specific can I be in the prompts sections?

As much or little as you like. You can write specific prompts, or you can just talk about what you like about the fandom/character/relationship. Maybe avoid super detailed outlines though; this isn’t a commission. You can also just leave it blank, direct people towards your general likes, tell people to go wild, etc.

The only part people are required to follow are the mediums, characters/relationships, and your DNWs. So don’t feel like you need to leave prompts if you don’t want to.

If I use the AO3 collection to post my fill, do I still have to put it in full in the comments?

No, as long as it can be read by the recipient if they have not provided an AO3 account to give it to; you just need to post the AO3 link as a comment. If the recip has not provided an AO3, they may not have an account, and therefore the gift should not be archive locked.
